Sesame (Red)
Known for its various uses across the food industry, and most importantly in hulling, red
sesame seeds are vibrant with a nutty taste and a delicate crunch.
The distinct red color is attributed to its high iron content. Red sesame also provides a store of
vitamins and minerals including calcium, vitamin B1, zinc, manganese, and dietary fibers.
Red sesame is also prized for its high oil content. Unlike other oilseeds, the oil of red sesame is
resistant to rancidity.
Typically available at lower prices than white sesame, red sesame is cost effective for hulling
industries.
